I am Mrs. Swift, the principal of Monclova Primary. My role encompasses all tasks that fall under being the instructional leader of the building, ensuring the smooth functioning of the building, and helping to create a safe learning environment for our students. I am available via phone, e-mail, or for conferences and am happy to assist families as we strive to meet the needs of all our students.

My responsibilities include maintaining student demographic information/files and the student information system. I also process requisitions and order supplies for our building throughout the year. Preparing deposits, managing correspondence, and drafting building and enrollment reports as well as school newsletters are all tasks that I complete. Maintaining the building use calendar for building events and night groups is another responsibility of mine. I send newsletters/information to parents electronically and maintain e-mail contacts. During the day I also greet and assist students and visitors, and answer/direct phone calls. I assist administration, teachers and staff, organize substitute personnel sign in, and update and maintain Dynacal calendar which can be viewed on our website as needed. My responsibilities include monitoring and processing student attendance, assisting students and parents with transportation issues, and managing incoming and outgoing student records. As part of that I process requests for vacations. I also assist students, parents, visitors and volunteers in the office as well as answer telephone inquiries. Further, I help administration, teachers, and staff whenever needed. In the absence of the school nurse I provide medical assistance to students. In addition, I am the buildings tech facilitator for minor computer issues. If I can be of assistance to you, please feel free to call or e-mail.

As Monclova’s school counselor, I’m part of your child’s education team. Like a teacher, a counselor looks for ways to help each child be successful, confident and happy. Counselors are human behavior and relationship specialists who have a commitment to individual uniqueness and the maximum development of human potential. Elementary Counselors deal with a broad spectrum of issues: from very small issues ~ like a playground shoving match ~ to much more serious issues like mental health ~ such as childhood anxiety, depression, or the effects of childhood abuse/trauma ~ as well as everything in between. Common areas of focus include: emotional health, social skill building, parenting guidance, academic support, behavior, divorce/family stressors, anger management and conflict resolution.
